This weekend Janie's uncle and aunt came to Philadelphia for a visit. Uncle Stevie spent time doing dictations while entertaining Janie on the couch, and Aunt Amanda pretty much spent the entire time snapping photos of Janie.
Janie has all kinds of tricks up her sleeves now: she can sit up all by herself, get quickly from point a to point b by rolling, stand -- on her own -- while holding onto the side of her pack and play, and is almost able to crawl!
And during the course of the weekend, we discovered that Jane really loves the Flip camera, either because she's destined to become the next Spielberg or because the Flip is super tasty.
Jane is also eating solid foods now! This weekend she tried yogurt for the first time, in the form of a fruit, yogurt, and granola parfait. She's got a very sophisticated palate, as you can see.
Jane's most exceptional talent, though, is looking gorgeous for the camera. Aunt Amanda thinks Jane should be the next Gerber baby.
Uncle Stephen and Aunt Amanda can't wait to see Janie again soon!

Pacific Palisades - another guest post by another auntie
Here are some pictures from Auntie Kate's visit to L.A. She had fun visiting with her brother, the Gordons, and (as you can tell) me.
I'm growing hair!
the sunshine made Auntie Kate a little goofy too
brown rice cereal - yum!
add apples to the list of food I like.
right after this picture was taken, Auntie Kate tried to pack me in her suitcase.
I'll finish that bowl in a jiffy - just you watch.
this is me being cute.

Jane's First Hanukkah (A Guest Post from Auntie Amanda)
On the first weekend of Hanukkah, Uncle Stephen and Auntie Amanda went to visit Janie in Philadelphia.
They gave Jane her first Hanukkah present, her very own menorah. At first, Jane found the present very interesting, but then she realized that it wasn't anything she could put in her mouth, so daddy's fingers became infinitely more intriguing. Later, she tried to eat the wrapping paper, and it turned her mouth and tongue a delicious shade of indigo, which made her aunt giggle and her parents a little concerned.
In addition to the menorah, Jane got eight other presents from her aunt and uncle for Hanukkah; they spoil her because she's the best niece ever. Jane's mommy and uncle then lit the menorahs and sang a very beautiful prayer. Jane was fascinated by the jangly noises made by the animals on her Noah's Ark menorah, as well as by the flickering candles.
Jane's uncle was in turn fascinated by all the things that Jane could do now that she's so grown up.
She can hold her head up all by herself, sit, smile, and laugh.
In fact, Jane loves to laugh.
Especially when her Auntie Amanda is playing a hilarious game of bouncy couch with her.
Other things Jane likes to do include spitting up (particularly all over Uncle Stephen),
playing with Sophie the Giraffe,
and thoughtfully engaging with the cool toys on her activity mat.
Although it's possible that Jane is only thinking about which of the dangly, rattly things she should attempt to chew on, Aunt Amanda is convinced that her niece is contemplating the meaning of the universe and deliberating about how to bring peace and goodness to the world.
Of all the things Jane loves to do, though, her favorite activity is to snuggle, be it with her uncle,
her mommy,
or her dad.
When it was time for her aunt and uncle to fly home to Boston, they were very sad to go, because who would want to leave this face?
All in all, Jane's first Hanukkah was very eventful. She hopes your holiday season is as fun and memorable, and that your aunt and uncle are as awesome as hers!

School Days
My fall continues to be an adventurous one. I started school. Yep, I entered academia. I was the very first baby to enroll in the new day care center down the block. My teacher says that she would take me home with her at night if she could, but so far my parents have opted to pick me up each day. Here are some pictures from my first halloween, which we celebrated at daycare:
This is me and my dad with one of my very first friends at daycare. You can't see his costume, but he is dressed like batman. Miss Emma, my teacher, is in the background.
This is Miss Rina, the director of my daycare, carving a pumpkin.
My mom also walked me through the ABC's to prep me for school. As you can see, I like some letters better than others.

Busy Me
So much has happened to me this past month, my parents are having trouble keeping up with me. So let me catch you up. About a month ago, my aunts Kristen and Jo came to Philadelphia to meet me.
Then, my mom's friends Niki, Geri, and Amanda came to visit. They know a lot about trees, animals, water and even "corporate social responsibility," whatever that is. I think they wanted to get me started young, because they bought me this book about different kinds of animals. My dad reads me the story at night before I get into my PJs.
I also took my very first trip out of town to visit my Uncle Stevie and Aunt Amanda!
I get really happy when my Aunt Amanda takes care of me. It makes me smile, which I just learned how to do! Check me out.
On the way home, I met this other baby named Merrin. My dad and her dad are the bestest of friends.
